Miami Art Basel, love it or leave it, is no small undertaking. As an event curator, I don’t often publicly critique large-scale productions. What I do offer freely is recognition. To all who brought it to life: well done.
South Florida in December has quietly become an unexpected reset for me. So much so that I ignore that I have to travel to sunshine state to experience it. This year, my creativity was replenished with visions of unconventional yet impactful projects and meaningful collaborations. If you’re someone who thrives in the “where you at?” Olympics, where intentions to link are high, but actual meetups are… unrealistic. Consider this your nudge to start planning for Art Basel now.
While the art remains the obvious anchor, Miami is steadily evolving into a wellness hub, and I find myself wanting to return multiple times a year. Thoughtful activations, recovery-forward programming, and health-centered brands are no longer adjacent to the experience; they’re the main attraction.
